Business owner Glenn Beach has been delivering Outdoor Education for more than 15 years to people of all ages and all walks of life. Glenn is passionate about people and seeing them realise their potential. He is a qualified teacher, raft guide and holds the National Certificate in Outdoor Recreation Instruction Bush qualification as well as outdoor first aid. Just recently Glenn and his wife purchased a small farm in the Wairarapa on the banks of the Ruamahunga river, to establish as a base for the KOEA. Accommodation is presently tenting only in a beautiful rural setting, surrounded by mature trees, by the Ruamahunga River. There is a large outdoor kitchen with running hot and cold water, bbq's, and a covered fire-pit that is excellent for cooking large quantities of delicious food.
At the Kahikatea Outdoor Education Academy, the focus is to provide safe, fun and well organised outdoor educational services, with the highest levels of customer satisfaction. The KOEA provides a comprehensive programme for schools/groups, with primary, secondary and international student programmes available. These are able to be tailored to meet the specific needs of the school and/or groups.

Safety is paramount in the delivery of all of our programmes. We use well qualified instructors, who relate well to others and make the experiences fun.
Risk management plans (RAMs) are undertaken before any activity takes place and these can be provided to schools on request.
Our rafting operations are contracted out to Mohaka Rafting who have an independent safety audit from Adventure Mark, providing you with safety assurance
Instructors are Outdoor First Aid Certified and hold NZ Outdoor Instructor qualifications and these qualifications are regularly updated/revalidated. When possible we also attend safety workshops and lectures and keep up to date with current accepted industry practice.
In addition to this - the foundation of the KOEA is education. Building the NZ Curriculum Key Competencies into the programmes is an intergral part of the KOEA , as well as providing learning outcomes that support integrated learning. The KOEA is also able to deliver programmes that cover NCEA standards.
